This is an origional piece of artwork I did back in 2018. It’s a quick sketch I did for an Inktober challenge. never did I imagine when i sat down to do the challenge, this piece i was about to create would be one of my favorite pieces of artwork I have ever done. What is Inktober , you ask? well , I’ll tell you …… It is an artist challenge that is done at the start of October and runs through til the very last day. There is an official Themed list , however I like to peruse the many lists that are available online and find one that inspires and moves me. You can even create you own. The point of it all is to draw a different subject every day of the month, without using a pencil. There is no erasing, so you need to go with the flow and work any mistakes you make into the artwork. Thats where the challenge comes in . Sometimes though, its not that easy, At least not for me (lol). I remember that day clearly, I was rushing around with alot on my plate and I literally had about 20 minutes to sit down between taking on the role of “Uber” for the third time that day and opened up my book to the list . Sigh… what was I going to create? I don’t know…… lol.. I grabbed my Arteza markers knowing full well I wanted to create something with full saturation and vivid colors. These markers are perfect for that! I was flipping through an old magazine for inspiration and I saw a photo of a mountain and some trees. It was mostly blues and grey tones. I immediately became inspired. Before I knew it I just jumped in with both feet. A here goes nothing … kind of moment . I was in my zone ! I was so focused, passionate, and driven ..that I was literally on auto pilot…I was so connected to this scene I was creating .The colors I laid down brought my sketch to life.

When I finished . I took a step back and thought ..”wow”. This is “My Path” I have always loved being in nature. Maybe it’s because i’m a Capricorn. An Earth sign, yep…I’m a December baby.. whatever it is.. I feel at home in it. My spirit feels at home. I love being outdoors. Hiking through the forest , kayaking on the lake, I breath easier, i’m soooo relaxed. I can sit for hours in my yard, on my deck, or by my pergola and just watch life. Nature. Hear the rustling of the leaves as the breeze pass through the trees, seeing the squirels scurry by, “My Path”. The connection to nature and it’s beauty and wonder . To live everyday with that energy and unspoken connection . To know……that i am home.
