Fudge. This one little word can put a smile on so many faces. What’s not to like about a decadent little piece of chocolate heaven, that melts in your mouth? A rich, just the right bite of something sweet, that hits the spot ?…..now that I have your attention..(lol). I added a twist to this classic sweet confection, making smooth, creamy peanut butter the star. Dusting it with just the right amount of salt on top, to give a sweet and salty flavor that elevates this peanut butter fudge to be a show stopper for your next gathering. This recipe I’m sharing with you is based off of Mary Younkin ” Bare feet in the Kitchen” with a slight modification.
With just five staple pantry items ( creamy peanut butter, salt, powdered sugar, Vanilla extract , and unsalted butter) and a little bit of time, you can whip these beauties up fairly quickly ,pop em in the fridge, and in a few hours..viola!
I have provided microwave and stovetop directions . I used the stovetop method. I guess i’m old school at heart. ( awwwww).
Let’s get started !!!!!
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of creamy peanut butter
- 1 cup of unsalted butter cubed
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 3 1/2 cups of powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon of salt for sprinkling on top
Directions:
For microwave directions:
Combine peanut butter, butter and vanilla in a glass bowl. Melt in the microwave for 90 seconds. Stir to combine. It should be smooth and creamy. Slowly add the powdered sugar , stiring well after each addition. Transfer the fudge mixture to a greased 8 – 9″ pan . Press the mixture down evenly. Sprinkle salt over the top. Chill in the fridge for about 4 hours. Remove from fridge and cut into squares.
For stovetop directions:
Combine peanut butter, butter and vanilla into a medium size saucepan over medium – low heat. Stir to combine until smooth and creamy.
